It’s Not Quite James Bond…

When I think of cars on water, my mind immediately goes to James Bond.

Of course, the Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who Loved Me way back in 1977 was a futuristic vision that’s not likely to come to fruition any time soon…

But amphibious vehicles ARE a thing – as long as you’re willing to invest a fair wedge.

And there’s even a boat that’s part Ford Mustang, part Dodge van and fully operational on the water.

If it sounds bizarre… it’s because it is.

The unusual marine vehicle recently went up for sale, although it does need a fair amount of restoration work.

Let’s be honest, we all like the idea of vehicles having more than one purpose.

Whether it’s the flying car in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the time travelling DeLorean in Back to the Future or any one of James Bond’s iconic vehicles.

Ejector seats, anyone?

But I’m not sure that a motor vehicle which can travel on the water is as exciting as it might seem, especially when there’s a fair bit of work to get it operational.

Then again, the novelty of it would undoubtedly be fun…

What do you think of dual-purpose vehicles, are they a gimmick or is there a genuine place for them?
