Road Safety Warning As Traffic Levels Peak During The Summer Holidays
Drivers and fleets are being warned about high traffic levels as the summer holidays get underway.
There’s set to be a ‘record’ number of journeys taken by drivers in the UK as people head for summer getaways, which could cause traffic jams and add to journey times.
For fleets, that means keeping a keen eye on both road safety and ensuring their routes are completed on time.
But that coupled with recent studies showing that fatigue is a serious danger for drivers in the summer months presents serious concerns.
More than 26 million journeys were planned for this week, with millions still set to come this weekend.
That’s a combination of people heading to airports (and ports) and families heading for breaks in the UK, as well as for days out as the school holidays kick off.
With more than two million trips per day set to take place over the coming weeks on top of usual traffic levels, it’s important that drivers take extra precautions to ensure they stay safe, rested, and get where they’re going in good time.
Staying safe means keeping an emergency kit in your vehicle in case of breakdowns, traffic jams and incidents, as well as doing your usual vehicle checks prior to any journeys.
