UK Transport Braced For Travel Disruption This Weekend
Fleets and drivers are being warned about disruption across all major UK transport routes this weekend.
A combination of strikes and protests means that traffic levels on the roads and rails is expected to peak, with significant delays and road closures expected.
Travel disruption in London is nothing new, but the combination of strikes on major transport infrastructure, regular traffic due to sports events, music events and tourism AND large-scale protests planned this weekend makes it a perfect storm.
For fleets, that means taking serious consideration of route planning and timescales to ensure that where alternative routes can be taken, they are.

While traffic levels have dropped off since the school holidays have come to an end, millions of journeys are planned every single weekend.
Drivers are being urged to plan ahead and keep an emergency kit in their vehicles in case of long delays and breakdowns.
A good emergency kit should include a tyre inflator, flashlight, phone charger (or battery pack), first aid kit, blanket and food & drink.
With the weather becoming more unpredictable as we enter autumn and wet weather becomes more common, it’s crucial that drivers are well rested and prepared in the event of adverse weather or road conditions.
That becomes even more important if you experience traffic jams, delays or detours, as fatigue can set in and as we know, tiredness impairs good decision-making behind the wheel.
