The ultimate low emissions vehicle?

The trend towards low-emission vehicles is ramping up – but this one might take the biscuit…

A bicycle-powered car.

Yep, really.

A Honda Civic with the engine removed… but the gearbox remains. The bike’s rear-wheel has been taken off and a frame built to attach it to the car, then a belt is strapped on and hooked up to the transmission.

The result? Two people on a bike pedal to power the car!

Slight problem – it tops out at 2 mph.

When you consider that you’ve got two people pedalling and another steering and shifting gear, it’s not the most efficient mode of transport…

Naturally, the test drive saw the owners take their hybrid vehicle through the McDonald’s drive-thru – because why not?

It’s the type of thing that a child would invent, and quite honestly… it’s brilliant.

It’s completely impractical and slower than walking, but SO MUCH FUN!

Almost every person that caught a glimpse of the bicycle car was laughing and taking photos.

Sadly, the police pulled them over after witnessing their bizarre vehicle strolling down the road.

The good news is that after a very confusing exchange, the officer let them on their way, and off they pedalled.

What’s the strangest vehicle you’ve ever seen? Does it top a bike-powered car?!
