Will The May Bank Holiday Traffic Rush Have An Impact On Road Safety?

With the May Bank Holiday (and school half-term holidays) set to begin, the usual traffic rush is set to begin…

But will it have an impact on road safety for fleets and other road users?

The short answer is yes, with experts predicting that more than 23 million journeys will take place on Friday 22nd May as the long bank holiday weekend kicks into gear.

That will inevitably result in traffic jams and delays and as we know, the heavier the traffic on the roads, the more likely incidents are to occur, particularly with tired and stressed drivers behind the wheel.

That’s why fleets and drivers are being urged to be extra vigilant when on the roads this weekend, with Friday and Saturday set to be the busiest days for traffic.

As usual, the main motorways are set to be busiest, whether that’s the M1, M25, M62, M5 or M6, but experts are warning to expect delays wherever your journey takes you this weekend.

The road safety implications are clear but as ever, Risk Monitor and Fleet Monitor are invaluable tools to keep you and your fleet safe and in control.
