Almost a million drivers are using expired driving licences…

Figures from the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA) have revealed that more than 900,000 drivers are currently using an expired photocard driving licence.

It means they’re at risk of receiving a £1,000 fine if they’re caught and with that figure meaning that 2% of all road users in the UK are using photocard licences that expired this year, it’s a widespread issue.

2.5 million motorists renewed their licence after the expiry date but won’t be fined nor will anyone who has an active renewal currently processing.

It highlights a significant issue for many fleet owners because checking driving licences and handling driver risks is a key part of the day-to-day routine – or at least it should be.
