Ever had a puncture on the motorway?

Then you’ll know it’s unmissable.

The sudden loss of height on one side of the car, the strange noise of flat rubber whacking tarmac, the loss of speed and stomach-lurching feeling that tells you “something’s very wrong”…

You can’t miss it.

Which is why we were surprised to see a video of a Dodge Grand Caravan driver ploughing down a California highway – total disregard for his flat tyre.

Sorry, did we say flat tyre? We meant NO tyre!

Unbelievably, the van continues down the highway at speed, despite having no tyre at all on the front passenger side.

It sits in the middle lane too, as though happy to overtake and carry on the journey as normal.

We can’t find any evidence to suggest the driver wasn’t stopping because of a woman giving birth on the backseat or a kid with a broken arm. In fact, the rest of the car seems to be totally empty.

But the damage to the driver-side fender suggests the tyre was probably ripped off at speed. Obviously not a dramatic enough situation to deter this driver getting from A to B though…

Guess you don’t have to give into a flat when there’s no tyre in the first place!
