Fleet Speeding And Parking Fines Are On The Rise
The number of speeding and parking fines (among other offences) issued to fleet drivers has risen significantly in recent years, according to new data.
Research has indicated that as the number of fines issued to drivers rises overall, the number of fleet drivers and so-called ‘at-work’ drivers receiving fines has increased as well.
In fact, there are more than 20 million parking, speeding and motoring fines issued in the UK every single year, while more than 14 million of those made up by parking fines.
Toll, crossing and congestion charges (including clean air zones) accounted for 20% of all fines and charges in the quarter from August-October 2025, something which fleets will be all too aware of.

There are two elements to this news, both of which are crucial for fleets.
The financial impact is clear, the more fines issued, the more it eats into margins for fleets and with pretty much all costs rising in recent years, that’s something we’re all keen to minimise as much as possible.
And there is the road safety impact, with the reality that as more fines are being issued, there are two questions – is it simply a case of authorities clamping down on poor driver behaviour? Or is it a rise in poor driving behaviour itself?
The answer is it probably lies somewhere in between both, but the road safety implications are clear and it’s something for all of us to be aware of.
