Send out the Bat-Signal, Robin…

When it comes to superheroes, few have had the same cultural impact that Batman has had over the years.

Never mind the superhero himself, his car is almost a character on its own…

The Batmobile is one of the most iconic films in pop culture history.

So, when someone is commissioned to make a full-sized replica Batmobile, you’d be pretty miffed if it didn’t turn up, wouldn’t you?

After all, what could be cooler than a real-life Batmobile?

I’ll let you answer that one.

So, when a custom car shop in Indiana, USA, failed to deliver the $210,000 custom car, alarm bells were ringing for the local sheriff.

As chance would have it, the man who placed the order was friends with the local sheriff and things kicked off from there…

The shop owner’s assets were frozen, he was arrested, and things spiralled from there.

Bizarrely, the situation appears to have arisen because of a $20,000 missed payment that saw the person who’d placed the order lose his place in the queue…

There’s 9 people waiting on officially licensed Batmobile replicas if you were wondering.

Now, the entire case looks like it’s going to be thrown out and settled in civil court which doesn’t feel like a storybook ending…

I don’t think DC will be commissioning this for the next Batman movie in a hurry.
