Check out Dacia’s little joke at the expense of BMW’s heated seat subscriptions…

We always like a bit of friendly rivalry between car brands, and the latest snipe from one to another has left a smile on our faces!

Maybe you remember BMW’s interesting new subscription offering from last summer?

(For £15 a month, you can “subscribe” to a heated seat, although those hoping they could avoid paying for it during the summer were disappointed – the shortest minimum term is 12 months!)

Whether you thought heated seat subscriptions was a good way to open up the second-hand route for more drivers, or you think subscriptions are best served for the likes of Spotify, you’ll hopefully appreciate Dacia’s little joke at their expense…

Before you get excited, the Romanian brand wasn’t handing out free cars.

And while their poignantly named little dig at BMW – “Heated Seat Saviours” – probably isn’t enough of an offer to pull in lots more customers, it certainly lends itself to a certain aspect of their brand…

…Simplicity.

Their UK Brand Director admitted the gimmick was just a bit of fun, but suggested they do highlight the direction the automotive industry is headed right now too. Apparently, “asking someone to pay extra to activate factory-fitted equipment certainly isn’t Dacia”!

What do you think? Are BMW onto something with these sorts of subscriptions? Or would you rather toast your behind in Dacia’s camp?
